Dr. Larry R. Shannon II is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in brain and spine care, with over two decades of clinical experience. His work focuses on treating complex conditions of brain and spine using advanced techniques including minimally invasive spine surgery, robot-assisted surgery, and motion preservation. His approach to care emphasizes careful evaluation, clear communication, and thoughtful decision-making at every stage. A graduate of Morehouse College, he earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Rush University Medical Center, including an intra-residency endovascular fellowship at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Shannon brings extensive experience, ranging from caring for high-acuity patients at Level I trauma centers to offering same-day outpatient surgeries for procedures that previously required hospitalization. His approach combines evidence-based treatment planning, clear communication, and a focus on restoring function, confidence, and quality of life.

A clinical leader, researcher, and educator, Dr. Shannon has served as Co-Director of the Bassett Healthcare Spine Fellowship and as an ATLS instructor. He has educated physicians and trainees on spine disorders, mentored medical students, contributed to peer-reviewed neurosurgical research, participated in multicenter spine studies, and served as Site Principal Investigator for the INTRACEPT study on chronic back pain.
